I saw the other guy using oil in polished edges of engineered stone, is that the right thing to do?

Doesn't sound right to me........I would be thinking water. What did it look like when he finished........sounds like it would be stained....water should be fine. Oil is ok for rubbing out wood finishes such as lacquer.
