But the other countries dont are they smarter or are they fooling americans, they are for the poor they say but why are they the ones making tons of money all in the pretense of an oil spill, I guess when people are paying 10 dollars a gal higher income tax, if you have a job, higher food they will get on tv and say we have tighten our belts again, they are good at thatWhy do the dems think the american engineers are stupid and will spill oil?

If you think only Democrats can see oil slicks in the water then Republicans are in worse shape than I thought.


All nations have had pipeline leaks and sabotage.


And the Alaskan pipe line and the Exxon Valdez have shown that accidents do happen. And they can be disastrous.


Democrats aren't the ones making money off oil, Bushs' whole family is in oil, as is Cheney. For that matter just making money isn't the problem, its excessive speculation in the market.


The idea that Democrats are in some way for the poor is too extreme, they only want to see that the poor aren't in danger of dying or infecting the rest of the population due to lack of health care, they have a minimum standard of living, they aren't necessarily for the poor.





Anyway you look at it, oil is a nonrenewable resource, its going to come to an end. We would be better served looking for a sustainable substitute than ruining the earth and its animals just so we can drive an SUV for another twenty years.


That's a certain arrogance of mankind to think they can destroy their environment endlessly and not pay in ways much worse than we see today, just because they can.
It has happened, but they can always clean it up. When they show oil covered animals on tv, you have to remember that with a short lifespan they might have died for any other reason and maybe not too long after the oil spill. We need oil not a wildlife preservation. After all, who is going to preserve us?
They want to present it as all or nothing. Drilling = oil spills and destroys wild life and the environment. That's ridiculous. It's just manipulation. I've heard politicians put their own spin on things too many times and they think that Americans are too stupid to know better.
What are you referring to? If we are talking about Alaska, then the problem is the massive amount of infrastructure that is required.
The only oil spills we have ever had, were from ';importing oil'; not drilling! It's those damn treehuggers that spin it...
